Located on highway 10 on the south-east side of downtown Baton Rouge, this large retail power center sprawls across 100 plus acres and houses over 700,000 sq. ft. of retail space. The center includes such tenants as Bed Bath and Beyond, Old Navy, Shoe Carnival, Dress Barn, T,J,Maxx, Avenue, Books-a-million, Pet Smart, Lowe’s, Kohl’s, Sam’s Club and others. The center has been design to include within it, smaller centers, Hotels, Theater, and Multi Family Residential units.

Architecture

Architecture is considered to be both the art and science of designing and building of structures. At the same time, design maintains a balance between aesthetics and functionality. Additionally it is of the utmost importance that the built environment maintain the health, safety and welfare of all persons for which it serves. It is ultimately, through the combined efforts of the entire team, owner, architect and builder, that a project may become a reality.

Planning

Planning is an integral part of the building process. A successful project should incorporate thought in the various aspects of its scope. Each project has its own unique considerations that must be taken into account. It is in this planning process that the conclusions reached will have a significant impact on the direction the design of the project will take. The development of a project’s program, outlining its requirements and needs, will become the building blocks of the designing process.

Design

Design is a process by which a project is developed to reach its final form. This process analyzes a project’s program to discover the many various possibilities in achieving its goals. The collaboration of the owner and designer is essential in the sharing of ideas, goals, context and functions in the success of a project. A project may start as a simple parti or sketch and progress through the use of various designing techniques to develop into a presentation of the architect’s vision of the project.
